Queridos socios y alumni,

As part of our Harvard Wellbeing initiative — and in the new format of our breakfast conversations — we have the rare privilege, on Tuesday, 7 July, of spending a morning in the company of June Cohen, Cofounder of TED talks.

Twenty years ago this week, June Cohen put the first TED Talks online — and in doing so, changed the way the world shares ideas. Her talks, and her whole career, were built around ideas from the future.

Today, she is convinced that the most transformative ideas for our future are found in the ancient wisdom traditions. The practices our ancestors handed down — the sauna, psychedelics, the festival, the great physical trial of the marathon or the pilgrimage — were never superstition. They were solutions: sophisticated systems for healing the mind, binding communities, and restoring meaning. And modern science is now confirming what humanity has always known.

June Cohen is a pioneer of media and technology, best known as the co-creator of TED Talks and Masters of Scale, and an early force behind HotWired.com, the pioneering website Wired launched in the 1990s. Across eleven years at TED, she co-hosted the flagship conference and brought TED Talks online, turning a private event into one of the most recognized media brands in the world — a billion views a year, in more than 120 languages. She is now the author of The Great Remembering: Powerful Ancient Practices — and the New Science Bringing Them Back. A graduate of Stanford University and the recipient of more than 100 industry honors — among them a Peabody and a National Design Award — she lives between California and Madrid.

It will be an extraordinary morning. Do not miss it!
